⚡ How to Boost Text in Any App

This is the core functionality of TypeBoost: Apply a prompt to any text you select (We call it "boosting text"), it's super simple.

Here's how it works:

✍️ 1. Highlight the Text You Want to Improve

In any app – Mail, Notes, your browser, or a code editor:

Select the text you want to rewrite, enhance, summarize, translate, or otherwise transform like if you want to copy it.

💡 TypeBoost only works when some text is selected. If nothing is selected, the app will remind you to highlight something first.

⌨️ 2. Press Your Shortcut

Use your configured global shortcut (e.g. Ctrl + Space) to open TypeBoost. Find out how to set it up here.

  • The app will pop up as a floating window showing your selected text.
  • The window stays on top so you don’t lose your place.

🔍 3. Pick a Prompt

  • Use your up and down arrow keys or start typing to search for a saved prompt.
  • Prompts are like instructions – e.g. “Improve tone”, “Shorten text”, or “Make it sound like a fish is talking to an elephant” (Whatever that could be, but you could create something like that).

✅ Press Enter to run the selected prompt.

🪄 4. Insert the Improved Text

Once the result is ready, you can:

  • Press Enter to insert it back into the app you were using and replace the original text.
  • Use the up and down arrow keys to insert the result above or below your selected text.
  • Copy the result into the clipboard by pressing Cmd + C or select Copy To Clipboard from the context menu.

That’s it, as simple as that.

🧠 Example

You’re writing an email. You highlight a paragraph, press your shortcut, choose Improve Email, and press Enter. TypeBoost refines your text to eliminate errors and enhance its overall quality. You press Enter again, and the new version replaces the original. Done in seconds.
